Veritas Classical School, St. Augustine, Florida, is seeking to hire a Business Office Manager

This individual provides strategic leadership that supports the school’s mission by effectively managing the school’s financial and operational needs. The Business Office Manager is responsible for a wide range of activities including finances, human resources, health and safety, and risk management.

Under the supervision of the Head of School, the essential functions and responsibilities for the Business Office Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

Oversee financial components of the school:

Accounts receivable and accounts payable.

Manage banking relationships.

Coordinate audit and tax requirements as well as scholarship audit.

Prepare appropriate state and federal reports/filings.

Assist in formulating and monitoring budgets in conjunction with the Head.

Establish and maintain proper policies, processes, and procedures to safeguard assets.

Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Oversee human resources:

Prepare annual contracts for all employees.

Complete new hire checklist with each new hire.

Review policies and update employee manual.

Manage compensation process with budget process.

Stay current with laws that may impact the viability of the school.

Ensure compliance with all employment laws and documentation.

Investigate and acquire annual proposals for employee benefits including medical insurance. Administer details of plans that are chosen.

We are looking for a business leader with the following qualifications:

Christian maturity that is both consistent and growing

An understanding of and commitment to classical and Christian education

Experience leading through financial oversight with QuickBooks.

Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Possess at least a bachelor’s degree with qualifications in accounting preferred.

An approachable and humble manner with the ability to work on a team and serve the staff and families at the school.
Self-starter with a joyful, helpful, and professional attitude and ability to work autonomously and manage work.
Desire and ability to learn quickly.

Current but flexible goal would be a part-time business office manager with a view to growing this role to be full-time in 2025. Start date may coincide with the 2024-25 school year.
