Veritas Classical School Admissions

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2

Why Veritas?

We offer the children of St. Augustine, Florida, an exciting and distinctively classical and Christian education. Our students, alongside their peers and qualified dynamic professionals, are cultivating their love of learning by asking great questions, so that they may develop virtue and poise for the sake of Christ and His work through them.

“I love to encourage and help establish faith in God in the lives of students.”

IS VERITAS THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOUR FAMILY?

FAITH.

We are not just a school that also teaches Christian values. Faith is intentionally woven throughout every aspect of the education received at Veritas. Children learn how to socialize by viewing one another through Christ’s lens. Your child will learn each subject by learning its root in absolute truth through both scripture and tradition. We encourage our students to live out their faith through every area of their lives both in school and at home; our families are encouraged to attend our chapel service each week and attend local services in the community on Sundays.

CLASSICAL.

The classical approach to education is taught in three distinct phases and has been used for over 2,000 years. We are a member of the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS) which describes the classical approach as “a time-tested educational system which establishes a biblical worldview (called Paideia), incorporates methods based on natural phases of student development, cultivates the seven Christian Virtues, trains student reasoning through the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric), and interacts with the historical Great Books.” We do not merely teach our students information, but instead, how to consume information and translate their knowledge into unique, intellectual, Christian-based analysis of the world around them.

RELATIONSHIPS.

Fostering strong relationships help your child to grow educationally, socially, and spiritually. At Veritas your child will benefit from smaller class sizes which allow students to build relationships beyond the typical one-year schedule. The friendships your child creates will continue from year to year and their previous teachers will be friendly faces still easily found in the hallways. Understanding and respecting authority and citizenship are valued teachings that your child will learn. They will also be taught their own value, as a whole person, created by God and thriving in Christ.

ENGAGEMENT.

Transparency and intentionality are the leading principles between Veritas families and staff. We have an open door policy where you are encouraged to ask questions and be involved in your child’s education. You will never have to wonder what is being taught because you’ll be involved in their education every step of the way. Each parent at Veritas will get the opportunity, as they are able, to volunteer at recess, in class, on field trips, through maintenance, or by utilizing other gifting to enhance the school. We are building an environment for your child to thrive and you are an important piece of that vision.

SHAPING HEARTS AND MINDS

As a part of the admissions process, all families will read the book, Shaping Hearts And Minds; Why It Matters Where Your Child Goes To School: A Case For Classical Christian Education by Monica and Shawn Whatley.  This reading must be completed prior to the parent interview portion of the admissions process.
