Rafika Vann was born and raised in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Her and her husband, Lorenzo, served together in the United States Marine Corps for over 50 years combined; many of those years were served overseas. During those active-duty years, Rafika enjoyed serving in a variety of children’s ministries within different Church’s that they attended wherever she was needed. Upon Rafika’s military retirement in July of 2017, the family moved to St Johns, Florida. Rafika has served as a pre-school Sunday School teacher at Fruit Cove Baptist Church for the past 6 years. Rafika holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management as well as a Master of Public Affairs Degree in Public Management.
Rafika’s most favorite things: walking alongside her children through their education, making memories with her family, reading, working out, and learning about nutrition, specifically as it pertains to longevity and disease-prevention. It gives her great joy to teach the “littles” about the magnificent and intelligently designed creation that is their bodies and how to care for them and use them to bring Glory to God. Rafika and Lorenzo’s children attend Veritas.
