Mr. Brad Layland

Brad met Christ in high school through the ministry of Young Life. He earned his B.A. in Communications from the University of Florida and his M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Brad and his wife, Wendy, live in St. Augustine, Florida, and have four children. In 2008, he was elected and ordained as an elder at Good News Church, where he continues to serve in various roles. Brad loves running marathons, skiing, investing in real estate, building businesses, and traveling with his family—they’ve visited more than 45 countries. Over the past two decades, he has completed 70 marathons and two Ironman triathlons.

Brad is the CEO of THE FOCUS GROUP, which he joined in 2009 after a 20-year career with Young Life, where he served as Chief Development Officer. Since purchasing the firm in 2012, he has grown it tenfold—now serving over 100 Christian ministries through a team of 42 staff and consultants. Currently, THE FOCUS GROUP is helping clients raise over $2 billion. In recent years, Brad has led capital campaigns for organizations such as Dallas Theological Seminary ($200 million), InterVarsity Christian Fellowship ($81 million), Union Rescue Mission ($83 million), The Bowery Mission ($27 million), and Veritas School in Richmond ($20 million). In 2023, he authored Turning Donors into Partners(InterVarsity Press), which debuted as the #1 new release in Philanthropy and Charity on Amazon.

Brad is also the founder of Endless Summer Realty, the largest residential real estate brokerage in St. Augustine, closing over $250 million in transactions in 2022. He is a founding board member of Veritas Classical School in St. Augustine and the founder of the city’s annual “Giving Day,” which has now helped local nonprofits raise several million dollars and connect with new donors. His entrepreneurial success has given him the joy of practicing generosity firsthand and a unique perspective on the mindset of major donors.
