Matt grew up in St. Augustine and is very active in the community, having served on numerous local boards including Flagler Hospital Board of Trustees (past Chairman), Rotary Club of St. Augustine (past President), St. Augustine Historical Society, Ameris Bank Community Board, St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, and City of St. Augustine Planning and Zoning Board (past Chairman).
Matt graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the Citadel in 1993. He joined ThompsonBaker Agency in 1998 and is the second generation of his family in the insurance agency business. He became Partner in the firm in 2002 and assumed the role of President in 2009. In addition to leading ThompsonBaker, he continues to work with major commercial clients in the areas of manufacturing, education, healthcare, trade contracting, and public entities.
In his spare time Matt enjoys spending time with his family at the beach, snow skiing, traveling and is an avid reader. He and his wife reside in St. Augustine Beach with their two children, one of whom attends Veritas.
