Matt is from St. Augustine and is a second-generation insurance leader who serves as President and Partner of ThompsonBaker Agency.
A 1993 graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Matt joined the family-owned ThompsonBaker Agency in 1998, became Partner in 2002, and assumed the presidency in 2009. He continues to guide the firm’s growth while personally advising major commercial clients in manufacturing, education, healthcare, trade contracting, and public entities.
A founding member of Veritas Classical School and deeply committed to the St. Augustine community, Matt has devoted decades of leadership throughout St. Johns County. His service includes Chairman of the Flagler Hospital Board of Trustees, President of the Rotary Club of St. Augustine, Chairman of the City of St. Augustine Planning and Zoning Board, and board roles with the St. Augustine Historical Society, Ameris Bank Community Board, and St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce.
In his free time, Matt enjoys time with his family, snow skiing, traveling, and reading. He and his wife reside in St. Augustine Beach and are the proud parents of two children—one of whom was a member of Veritas Classical School’s inaugural graduating class of 2025.
